I need to play better.

Well my BB/100 for 100+200NL sucks this month and while im losing a lot of races while buying in for 50BB's, i'm still playing bad so i'm taking a break until the 1st of feb. I think if i take a break then post lots of hands on FTR and try work on my game, my results should improve a lot. Hopefully. Please?

Yeah, after building my roll to $7350.. i'm now at 5k again. Iv'e tried full stacking, half stacking, 100NL, 200NL, 4 tables, 12 tables.. but nothing can stop me from going on one of my standard 20 buyin downswings i seem to have every month :)

Been dealing for the cash game going @ my local casino and making quite a bit in tips so thinking about applying for a dealing job @ the new casino opening that's not too far from the other one.

At least iv'e played around 60k hands so far this month so ill get a nice lump sum back from RB sometime during feb... much needed obv

But anyway, iv'e played 51,600 hands of poker this month so far and my bankroll is a very sexy $7350, which if i can sustain till the end of the month, will meet both my monthly targets. Also, i'm around 91st in the leaderboard of raked hands worth $330, still expect to make top 25 for $1k. I think ill end up playing around 75k hands this month and hopefully ill have a bankroll of around $10k sometime during feb after getting RB, clearing my deposit bonus and getting leaderboard $$$$$.

200NL!!!!!! (ish)

well after breaking even for 40k hands of 100NL, i looked through lots and lots of hands, and while not running too good, iv'e been spewing all over the place. So naturally it got my thinking wtf am i doing, i must hate money. I came to the conclusion that i am actually sick of playing 100NL and am desperate to move up, despite only having 25-30 buyins for 200NL(not enough for 10-12 tabling me tinks).

So i had a good idea! I remembered a 50BB buyin strategy thread on FTR, so i looked it up and read it all and tested it out by buying into 200NL with $100.. loving it. Descisions are just so, so much easier when you have 50BB's.. for example. You raise AA UTG and the button cold calls. The flop comes down KQ9 with 2 hearts, you lead and button raises. Now if you were full stacked, this is a really tough spot, as opponent could easily have a set, 2 pair, a pair+FD, a straight etc etc and your going to have to make the choice whether to shove or fold now (calling is awful ldo).
Now picture the same spot with 50BB's in front of you.. EZ shove. Being short also helps you get paid with big hands, in the past 5 hours iv'e gotten QQ, KK, AA, AK all in vs hands like 99, AQ, AJs, TT, JJ.. where as i'd get much less action if i 3 or 4 bet and had 100BB's in that spot. Also, Q10 can't fold vs my KK on QXX :p.

So anyway, finished up a few buyins doing that, and hope to continue tomorrow, currently in 107th in the raked hands leaderboard which is sucky and only worth $250, top 50= $750, top 25=$1000, top 10= $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Yes, really.

The top 200 players that play the most raked hands on one of the sites i play on get a cash bonus @ the end of the month with the top 25 being guaranteed $1000 and first been a very sexy $7000. So naturally, i fire up 12 tables and play 10k hands today, and will probably do the same thing for the rest of January. I honestly think i have a decent chance of winning this, because i have no social life and can play for 10 hours a day if i want/need to, and ill be very dissapointed if i don't make the top 10. So from now on.. it's 12 tables instead of 8.. maybe even more if i start falling behind :)

Oh, i went from +300 to -500, to +400, to -50, and finished the session around +400, could be better/could be worse... my KK couldn't outdraw AK AIPF even 1 out of the 3 which kinda sucks but AK is the nuts in these games so i can't blame people for stacking off with it PF.

I just played a quick 2k hand session, went +$300 but finished -$450 but i feel really good about it. Played great all session and didn't feel on tilt in the slightest. I think i'm running kinda bad over my first 20k hands (not horribly), just not hitting enough sets as i should be, had KK vs AA 5 times, but yet to have AA vs KK etc etc. I just wish i could slowly win instead of winning or losing at least 5 buyins every time i play. but hey..."that's poker!"

Fun

Played a pretty long session today, around 6000 hands and played a LOT better imo.
Iv'e finally started to realise that the regs, while 3 betting light occasionally.. arn't bluffing everytime they repop me from the BB.

Anyway, so far iv'e played 18,500 hands (started jan the 10th) and my win rate is currently at around 2.6BB/100 which i hope to bump up to around 3 or 4, but then again its wayy too early to tell, so ill start talking about win rates and expected income for the year after iv'e played 100k hands of 100NL.

I really wanna clear this $700 in bonus $ i have on Ipoker and play at least 50k hands by the end of the month. So that's around 2400 hands a day, or about 3 hours a night, EZZZ. I think i can play a lot more than 50k hands a month during the holidays later this year (Jun-Aug) and am hoping for a few 100k hand months because from september-december ill be doing my 2nd year @ uni which means ILL ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO SOME WORK :| so i won't be able to play as much :(

Also, i made a prop bet with bluelips for $6.66 as to who has the biggest BR @ the end of the year, so whilst i have some catching up to do... I WILL WIN!!

Roll is @ like 5900, maybe even 6k...

Anyway, im gonna set some goals for the end of January.

Oh and also, i'm going to visit the DTD in nottingham on the 31st to meet some guys from FTR and and play the £50 donkament and most likely some £100NL, so expect a trip report early feb :)

Was feeling shitty yesterday due to lack of sleep and some other stuff so got a gooood 12 hour sleep in and woke up around 10.30 am. Didn't have school today, so I decided to play some poker and played some turbos for a while and was up a decent amount. Ordered some Chinese food and watched telly for a while before going back to the computer.

Played some donkaments, won an entry to the Sunday Million and won a 20/180 on Stars for 1080$.
Having AA vs (ironically) a sooted gapper the last hand really helped, 
but i think i woulda beaten the guy HU anyways.
When 4 handed the other guys wanted to chop it, but I said fook it and we played instead. 
Obv Great SUCCESS!!! IMO

Up ~2K for the day. Can't complain about that I don't think

Variance rears it's ugly head again!

Weeeeee, after running kinda good and pwning lots of fish and getting my roll to $6100, i took a hit sunday and lost 8 buyins @ 100NL, 50BB's @ 200NL and bought into the 20k (which i busted outta ASAP- lol donkaments). I wish i could blame it all on running bad, but i made some stupid mistakes like stacking off with the nut flush when i was so focused on chanting K OR SPADE ONE TIME FTW, that i didn't realise the board had paired :|

So yeah, roll hit $5100 but mehhh i'm feeling good about this year and i really think setting goals will motive me to play lots and play GOOT, because if i run 1BB/100 @ 100NL and play 40 hours a week, plus RB.. ill make around $30,000 this year, and i fully expect to be playing 1-2 and 2-4 by then at least and want a win rate of at least 2.5BB/100 so the possibilities are endless! :)

I feel my game has improved a lot recently- especially my agression and hand reading which all-in-all has made Poker fun to play again :D

I played a 6 hour session today, after a shaky start (thanks to my sucky internet which is apparently being fixed @ the end of the month) and won $500, so my roll is back to $5500. I darn't talk about win rates until iv'e played at LEAST 100k hands of 100NL then ill see how much i could make this year.

My thoughts were obv to raise preflop after a limper, gotta isolate those fish!
I flop a FD and 2 overs so obv i have to take a stab, but i probs bet 90% of flops anyway so that's super std. After he calls i decide the 2 is a terrible card to 2 barrel as everything he calls with on the flop arn't scared by the 2 so hes pretty much always calling a turn bet because my image sucks too (which i'm desperatly trying to improve, but failing :(, so i take the free card.

Now, the interesting part is the river, where he fires 2/3.. i thought about this for a while and tried to put him on a range of hands... his general post flop play was fairly agressive with TP+, so on that board i'd assume he'd raise a set or an overpair which he slowplayed preflop, which left me thinking he had a weak overpair that he was floating or he had a draw of some kind. On the river i think he's smart enough to realise that if he has like 77 or 99, his hand has showdown value and betting here accomplishes nothing unless he thinks for some reason i'm folding TT+ which leaves me believing he's either made a straight with 67 (unlikely) or hes got a busted flush (a lot more likely IMO). And well, i have Q high so obv i can't call his A high FD or w/e, so i raise.. and decide to make a small raise, because he isn't calling with A high whatever i raise but if he happens to have a straight or something fun like a rivered boat with 88 then i get away cheaper than if i make it $55+ to go... anyway, comments appreciated!

Goals for 2008

2008 Goals

Well, i was lying awake last night (or this morning should i say :D) after finishing another successful session, bringing my roll to $6100 and wondering what goals should i set myself for the oh so promising year of 2008.

After some thought and calculations i worked out that if i play around 1370 hands a day (about 2 hours tops for me) every day this year, i'd end up with 500k hands under my belt. Now obv some days i'd be playing more and some days i won't play at all but i think this can be done without too much effort. Although i'm looking for a crappy part time job atm for "work experience" so i'd have to find extra places to play some more hands.. which probably just means sleeping less :) Also, i can't record how many hands played in PT from carbon poker, so i'd have to play the majority at the Ipoker network, which i prefer anyway.

Under that same calculation, i worked out that if i run 5BB/100 @ 100NL for 500k hands (currently at 9BB/100.. can't really say if its sustainable yet), i'd make a yearly profit of around $50,000 which is a HUGE amount of money to me, and seems very realistic of obtaining. Obviously, i don't want to spend the rest of this year playing 100NL so i think i'm gonna have to set some goals.

Goal 1: Play 500k Hands (currently 5000 recorded but probs around 15-20k played)
Goal 2: Have a bankroll of $25000+ by the end of the year (currently $6100)
Goal 3: Be at least a 400NL reg by the end of the year. (Currently 100NL)

Curious to hear what Blue+Fitz have planned for this year :D

Probs playing more cash games in 2008

So, recently started playing 200nl at FTP. Been mostly 6tabling and logging a MASSIVE 6k hands!!1! Up almost 14 buyins and what's sick is that this is at full ring, so chances are i'm gonna keep playing and give donkaments and Omaha a rest for now. Can't give up on turbos yet tho.

Fink I might take a few shots at 400nl and see how that works  out, but will mostly be playing 200nl to see if I really can beat it. Obv can't be as lazy as I usually am and try to log atleast 20k hands a month, while playing turbos on the side and the occasional donkaments (esp on sundays).

School starting Monday for me too,  so can't stay up all night anymore I don't think but i'll have to work around that somehow.

PS: prop bet is still on! I think I have a shot of making it through january and get that pint imo

5k holla

Been grinding a lot of 100NL on carbon and Ipoker. Been running average for the most part but been playing B+ at the very least, so naturally the fish have been donating. Roll is $5300. Been giving a lot of thought about moving upto 1-2. I think for the most part im gonna stick with 100NL and just jump in soft 1-2 games to get experience before i jump in head first.

Wish i had something more interesting to post but this holiday has just consisted of me grinding hands and making $$$$$$.

Probs going out to get really drunk tomorrow with mates for no reason whatsoever, then log on @ 4am and demand HU 4NL, because that's how i roll! :)

Back at uni monday/tuesday, depending on how deep i make it in the 20k on carbon sunday night and how much sleep i get.

Played like 3 days of donkaments and just got immensly sick of them, even being up like $300-$400 so tried a few turbos, then around a whopping 100 hands of 100NL FR :P, and realised i suck at everything so moved back to carbon and back to the wonderful world of 6 max 100NL :)

Got roll from 2700-3450 last night 6 tabling for around 5 hours.

Also, just won the deepstack tourney on poker.com for 1200, roll is like 47 and change, pretty pleased. Gonna grind 100NL for lil while more then start taking shots @ 1-2.

Well, i said i'd do it and now i have. I moved my money from prima to stars, Ipoker and possibly FTP soon. Played around 20-25 donkaments yesterday and won $30 here, $60 here etc etc but managed to get a decent cash in a $10 rebuy for $570. Won the tourney @ casino the other night for $700 too so im feeling pretty confident. My tourney game is pretty decent imo, so all i have to do now is win 10k to catch upto bluelips :)
