Overlay, baby!

SO I decided to play the 100+9 deepstack "tourney" on poker.com today. I say "tourney" cause it's really more of a 2-table sit n go, but with overlay. +EV!

18 players signed up, and they payouts were 1250/750/500 to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Started off playing really tight and picked up some decent pots here and there (got QQ in vs T2s preflop all in at one point) and then doubled up twice in some big pots. Had AA > KK ftw and made a speculative play by raising K7 on the button, and big blind just called. Flop came J77, I fired 2/3 of the pot and the BB CRAI. Snap call of course and BB flips KK! That's not a cooler I don't think :p

Came in to the "final table" with a huge chiplead and played fairly aggressive and stole a lot of blinds. On the bubble I raised a lot and was pot committed to call shortstack's push when I held 43o vs his KQo. I flopped a purr and rivered trips ftw and was in the money, still with a huge chip advantage.

Guy on my smallblind was a folding station and gave me numerous walks, which was nice, and the other guy I had tagged as a huge fish from previous encounters. Needless to say, I felt pretty confident about taking this down, and obv I did :)

Final hand I raised pre with Q7, BB flatted and autopushed the flop which was A Q x. His push was a massive overbet for atleast 2.5x the pot and something didn't look right judging by this player's previous tendencies. I tanked and finally called. Of course it was good! BB showed KT for the gutshot and overglard and turn/river were blanks. 1139$ profit is obv a nice way to end november.

Roll is now ~12K. Might withdraw some before Christmas tho, so I have some drinking money available...

AGagahgahg ag internet

My internet is running bad, in fact it's so bad i havn't been able to play poker for more than 10 minutes without it cutting out + timing out during a 220BB pot with the nuts is no fun without DP. Iv'e even had to type out this blog post twice because of it.

Anyway, until it gets sorted, i can't really play much if at all but i ran my roll upto around $3800 or so which is more than i had before one of my famous half roll downswings! :)

Also, us bloggers are gonna be playing a 24 hour cash game session at some point during mid-december, check out the poker.com forum for a post closer to the time, and feel free to offer us prop bets IE, if we can finish, how many hands can I play (fitz and blue have no chance :P), how much $$$ i can make/lose, how long i can go without running to the toilet etc etc.

End of month spew

Aye aye time to round off November, as i'm going be too busy studying for my exams to log many hours for a while. Was a +ev month due to a goot cash in the Sunday Warmup and some alreet Omaha and turbos sng sessions, but i still suck at holdem cashgames obv :P

Before going to sleep tonight, i played ~1k hands while 6tabling (mostly 100nl and one/two 200nl tables) and sucking. Started off goot, up a buyin after a few hands after flopping top two vs tptk and it held up. Obv i'm not Gill.
Proceeded to play decent and winning, until around hand 400 where I 3bet JTs from the smallblind when button raised and 2barreled air and got called down by his QQ. It mostly went downhill from there, and I dunno why I even bother trying to play NLHE cash games =/

Atleast I cut my losses and only ended down 200$...

Havent really been playing.

Havent played in a week or more aside from the forum games at p.com, which ive been running terrible in. I have a lot of stuff going on with school right now and I wouldnt really be looking for me to play or to update with any poker content here until mid-dec, I should start longing a bunch of hours then.

I have however been playing the forum werewolf game at poker.com in 'the lobby' section of the forum. I wont really go into too much detail about it since its against policy to write about strats anywhere except for in that thread. But go over and check it out, its sort of neat, but please refrain from posting in the exact thread if you're not playing the game. I think most good poker players would be good at this game since it has a lot to do with thinking levels and such. Ie: he knows, but I know he knows and I dont think that he knows that I know that he knows.

Meh omaha

Finally managed to log 1k hands of omaha in one night, but ended down like 300$. Lots of action, lots of rigged hands and lots of spewing ftl...Might dig up some hand histories later, but can't be arsed wiv it right now.

Other events: Norway and Inglund got knocked out of the Euro's, so Gilly and I were obv pissed on wednesday but oh well. Guess it could be worse.

That rascal Gill introduced me to Solitaire. I've actually never played it before this week (wtf :D), and now i'm hooked haha. Damn you!

Going out to a party tomorrow. Prolly will come home somewhat lashed, play some pokurr and blog about Saturdays events I'm sure of it.

Werewolf :D

Finally got the game up and running and people seem a lot more interested to play now they know the rules and procedures.

As for poker, meh.. played a few hands here n there, made a few hundred.. upto around $3250.

Got it AIPF for a 3 buyin pot, 3 way with KK vs A9s and 77.. lol donkaments.

Unmotivated

Iv'e played like.. 300 hands in the past 2 or 3 days? :)

But i'm still up like 3 buyins at 100NL, bringin my roll to a lil over 3k so it's not all bad :D

Had some personal stuff bothering me which needed sorting plus some uni work to do, but now that that's outta the way, i can get back to grinding thousands of hands in such short periods of time! How Exciting!

Wow I must really hate money.

Caribbean stud FTW anyone? I dont usually gamble on these side games, but when I do watch out! This one seems pretty favorable to the house even if I were playing optimal, which im sure I wasn't. Are you supposed to bet with ace high? probs not.

On a positive note I was 1 card away from a str8 flush on a jackpot bet. (Ur always 1 away damnit!) That 60k jackpot was just too tempting... im sure I was still massively -eV playing this game tho, so Im an idiot.

Oh and I just got sent free money from mansion and absolute cause I havent played there in awhile! Anyone want 10$ to play with in absolute? I have no intention of using it, maybe i'll just play some flipaments until I hit 50 or bust. Will probably play a satelite or 2 with the mansion 25$ they sent me. I've been meaning to deposit there anyways. Will probably toss in 300-400 when I lose this 25$.

Played some more turkey rooms, which made up for some of the lost money in side games. It's gonna be harder than I thought to get into the top 100 since i really dont play much and sngs tend to make me angry. Also I seem to be overthinking these rooms a little.

Example:
I don't remember the exact number but the stacks are something like 3k,3.5k,4.5k, 800 with blinds at 150/300 (I have the big stack). Top 3 paid.

3k is in the BB and 3.5k limps the button, so naturally I push with 93os or something. I end up getting called by ATos??? WTF?? So obv im massively overthinking what these players are capable of. Don't really want to work out the math but his call is a really really bad here given the chip stacks, I could probably turn up my 93 and it would still be a bad call if he calls :P. Since I think he needs something close to 75% chance of winning to make this a +eV call (because of the stack sizes and payout structure). My push was probably also bad since I was thinking a few levels past this guy, thought he was smart enough to fold 100% of the cards he limped, thats why I did it. Anyways that didn't make me happy to say the least. Of course the shortie doubles up the next hand and I End up finishing 4th and bubbling.... cause thats just what always happens.

If your chances of cashing in a sng are very high you really want a LOT of chip equity if you're going to put your tourney at risk. Cards become far less important in some of these bubble situations, the relations of stack sizes and fold equity becomes far more important. Basically if theres a short stack on the bubble the big stack should be shoving the medium stacks with pretty much anything and the medium stacks should almost never be calling. In theory anyways :P.

Also there were just some blatantly bad plays on some of my other sngs. Dunno what some of these people are thinking, for instance, we were 3 handed (top 2 paid) with blinds at 50/100 and everyone was pretty much even (im slightly the big stack). guy opens button for 400 I shove with AQ. And He calls 1500 more with QTo. TTJKJ board, nice of PDC to give me the false hope of turning the str8 tho. "well played sir". This hand goes back to the "if ur gonna call, why not shove in the first place?" Also if he thought I was capable of 3 betting that weak that he could jusitfy a call he should've just folded outright in the first place and waited for a better hand. Whatever. Obv didn't tap the tank with any of these guys, but these sngs make me frustrated because of these reasons.

I should really just stick to HU sngs, since I seem to do really well in those. Although when I play 4 or more of those I defn notice that Im not paying enough attention and I think I miss a lot of value from them. My rating for the night would be a 'B->B+' but since I blew a bunch of monies on side games it is now an F.

Remember to stay away from side games!

Cya later!

Happy birthday to me :D

So I turned 22 today, and I have a splitting headache from last night haha. I had this plan where I wasn't going to drink a lot because I have school today, but am I really supposed to pass up on free shots? It was just a small get together, maybe 7 or 8 people and we just went to the bar where I work...which wasn't the smartest idea since that ended up with more binge drinking and free beers. Anyways it was fun times, one of my friends from Queens was able to come out which was cool, he was in town for his convocation. So today I have to write my groups chem report, which isn't going to be fun because I just want to sleep.

As for poker, I haven't really been playing a lot at all. Played some turkey jackpot rooms one day, which was pretty uneventful, I was ontop of the leaderboard briefly but I havent played since that one day so im starting to slip out of the top 100, i'll probably just slip into the qualifier closer to the end of the month. Been awhile since ive played SnGs and the play seemed to be a little crazier than the mtts I usually play, so I had to make a few adjustments. I did end the session slightly in the green.

I also played a couple hours of 100NL. The 6 handed game I was in was pretty ideal. It was very loose passive, and had a very predictable guy with 400BBs. Only problem was he was hitting everything. I really played a pretty boring mindless game here because the other players were so soft. I changed my style to pretty tight aggressive, and I also overbet everytime I hit because they didn't really fold. Anyways made about a buy in in this game. Here's a somewhat interesting hand vs the big stack:

Hero has: AQ
villain limps in.
Hero raises to 7$
villain calls.
Flop: As6h5h
Hero bets 12$
Villain calls.
Turn: 6c
Hero bets 40$
Villain calls.
River: 7h
Hero Checks
Villain bets 16$
Hero Calls.

Villain shows Kh4h, king high flush.

I think in hindsight I really shouldve made a value bet on the river and folded to his raise. I was also almost certain he hit his draw on the river, but can I really fold for 16$ in this pot? Anyways I dont mind how I played this hand, I definately outpriced the flush on the turn and he didnt really take me to valuetown on the river when he hit it.

Accounting> Poker

Ugh played so bad today and yesterday and some how i'm only down 1 or 2 buyins. I called off my stack with bottom pair in a re raised pot, i shoved a baby flush draw on a paired board with no fold equity.. i 4 bet shoved vs a super nit preflop with JJ.... i float every single pot i play in, in OR out of position.. and yahhh you get the idea.

But at least my course is going better this year?

I failed my course last year, well 40% of it so this year i gotta catch up being a part-time student. 6 hours a week of uni and no job FTW! (hence me logging so many hands recently). This year i understand everything, partially because i'm far too unsociable and quiet to talk to anyone except myself so i have nothing to distract me and partially because iv'e realised i only need to sleep 5 hours a night so have time for work AND poker, +EV i'm sure of it.

Anyway, Roll is around $2500-$2600 i think and ill probs move up to 100NL @ $3000 or maybe before. Until then, ill anooy fitz until he updates about something interesting because my posts suck.

Steady Away.

Dowswing finished at $1850, on my way back up grinding 50NL @ prima network. Running ok, playing better, making $$$. Roll just hit around $2250.

So yeah, nothing else interesting happened in the past couple days, im just logging lots of hands because i'm going out a lot more so need the money and i'm far, far, far too lazy to go work at tesco.

3500 hands= +$400.

Ship

Meeeeeeeeeeh

Played a couple donkaments, the 69+6 14,5k on ftp and a 11r on stars. Obv I finished just outside the final tables of both. Got 180$ for a 14th finish in the 69+6 when my 77 ran into 66 obv hail satan appeared on the turn and I was out. The 11r was a grind for over 6 hours just to make a silly late position push and run into bb's 88 and i'm out in 15th for 337$. 1st paid almost 12k, so obv not happy about busting so close to the big bucks =/

Also played this forum league thingy we have over at poker.com and won it, but that's more about glory than money, so i'm still a bit meeeeeeh about today.

Anyways, tomorrow i'm getting on the train to Oslo, baby. Norwegian cup final here I come! Gonna be loads of drunks from my hometown tearing up the capital this weekend i'm sure of it. Clearly our 1st division side are huge overdogs over 4th place finishers in the Norwegian Premier League Lillestrøm.

I predict Haugesund 1 Lillestrøm 0 :D

Oh well, even if we get battered i'm sure it will be a great time. I'll be back on Monday for more bloggaments. Laters...

Too lazy I'm sure of it

Meh, what is this? First I overslept to uni and only made the 2nd lesson (obv not the first time) and the proceed to doze off all day working very ineffective on some shit we were supposed to hand in by midnight. Finally got some mediocre shit done and could play some poker after that.

Loaded up 5 100PLO fullring tables and logged 500 hands =/ Ended up 1 buyin, despite losing a flip and think I played fairly decent tonite. Took down a lot of small pots and got some thin value out of two pair, top purr top kicker (and even worse) hands in spots where I'm probably way too nitty at times. People don't always have nizzles in Omaha, and it's probably a leak to let go too easily of decent hands in certain spots.

Goal: Don't be lazy, log more hands, improve postflop play ---> profit

Ugh..

Roll $2150, back to a full-time grind @50NL. I'm moving to the prima network from party just to make a nice change. I'm feeling pretty good about my game and i can't see any glaring errors from looking at HH's so ill just ride out the variance and hope to make $$$$$$ ASAP. Hoping to be a 1-2 regular by the end of this year.

Goal: Get better at Omaha

Obv had some fun playing Omaha today. Full ring tables were filled with pretty bad players, myself included, and is a potential goldmine if I improve my game. I especially suck at SH omaha, which is where most of the action is nowadays. Prolly gonna read some articles/books on Omaha and keep playing atleast once a week. It kinda sucks that I got banned from 2+2 after drunken ramblings, cause they have some goot posters there.

Anyways, biggest pot of the day:

Villain was very aggressive and I caught a good flop, but didn't wanna overcommit myself so I just called the flop bet. Turn is obv rigged and gives us both top two, him an OESD and me the nut flush draw. River was came and brought the flush. It helps to run better than Gill I'm sure of it...

Weeeeee variance

Ok my roll hit $2200, so its defo time to move back to 50NL and ride out the rest of this downswing. Will move back up once i hit $2500 or so. Hoping to get a live poker roll going so i can play more at the local casino, $$$$$$$ or ££££ should i say.

I have no idea where fitz is.

Inevitable.

Yeah, i dropped 7 buyins today and yesterday without even playing bad!

Roll dropps to $2750 so i was considering moving down but i just can't do it because the players at party 100NL are equally bad as 50NL so i can't let them keep their hard earned money.

The things i need to work on are:

1. Stop calling with 97s when shorty pushes for 20BB. lol gambollll
2. Stop trying to take people off top pair, whatever the board.
3. Stop playing tricky against idiots and just play standard, non trappy basic poker because i'm just outplaying myself and opponents are too retarded to realise what i'm repping and call me down with TPNK.
4. C-bet a lot less. Party 100NL is incredibly loose passive so naturally my C-bets and futher bets are being called down super light so i need to bluff less and value bet more.
5. I need to rememeber to laugh at the guy that checks it down with AQ on a QQQ flop vs my JJ and wins a $15 pot when it could have been a lot bigger if he raised the flop.

Basically, the reason i'm down 7 buyins is due to me C-betting and bluffing far too much vs fish and repping stuff that they don't even see. Plus i'm not very good at making pairs and hitting draws.

I now realise why i love variance. It WILL take 10 years off my life.

Tournament Sunday weeee

Woke up around 1 pm, feeling a bit rusty from last night. I dunno why, but it seems I've stopped playing when drunk, which is nice and probably +ev. Got some food and went for a walk to get some fresh air and get rid of the hang over. I should take more Sunday walks obv, as it helped quite a bit. Got back home and decided to play donkaments, in a night that mostly consisted of missed opportunities.

FT'd a 20/180 on stars, but obv got a shitty 9th after pushing 99 over utg limper's AA. Played two sats to the ftp 750k and a double shootout to the Sunday Million, so I got in cheap in both tournaments. However both tourneys went fairly shitty when I managed to run into AA again in the sunday million and set over set in the 750k. Meh...

Only thing left to play was the 20k teed on poker.com. It started earlier than I tought it did, so when I logged in I had already blinded down for about 50 minutes, so I was fairly shortstacked. I managed to play a goot All in or Fold strategy, pushing over some weak limpers in a few spots and got my stack up again. Blinds go up fairly quickly in this tourney, and with the added antes pots are really worth stealing during the middle stages. My table was very passive so I got to push in with marginal holdings quite often (mostly from late position tho) and stayed alive that way. Close to the bubble I won a big hand with AK > AQ and A8 and ITM I was 3/30 I'm sure of it. However blinds got really high and people started gambooooling a lot more, so there wasn't much wiggle room. Made a loose call with 88 when the table nit pushed 5bbs ( I had around 9, and was far from the shortstack. I blame the structure ), and she obv had QQ. Flop came T97, so I had some outs but whiffed turn and river and was left with 12k at the 1500-3000 +150. Pushed KQ when folded to me in HJ, but CO had AK and I was out in 16th place for 200$. First place is 5400$ and I felt I had a good shot at it, so a bit pissed off at myself now, but that's variance I suppose...

100NL PT2

Q: I don't get rakeback at party, i don't get any decent reload bonusus, the tourney schedule is terrible, the sng structure sucks.. so why do i play there?

A: Because the players are the biggest bunch of spewtards iv'e/i will ever see.

I'm up 11 buyins @100NL after only 5500 hands, a whopping 10BB/100 which after looking through hand history's and laughing away, i'm beginning to think is sustainable. I'm starting to wonder why i ever played elsewhere when people can't wait to stack off with TPNK vs my middle set for 1.5BI's. I'd urge any readers that like money to play at party, but i don't want any competition, so plz stay where you are. I ran bad yesterday and still finished +3 buyins because people give me odds when i want to draw, pay me when i flop sets and turn their hands face up when in a pot vs me. Expect to be playing 1-2 by the end of the month.

I <3 party donks.

Goot cash today

aye aye

Played some donkaments today. Gill has no money on FTP so I staked him for a 24+2 tourney that we both got stallowned in (Gill obv more than me, he busted after like 5 hands. Baller!! ). Played two other 50+5 tourneys, one on stars and one of ftp. I was doing alreet in the stars tourney, but lost to something stupid and cashed for 110$ or whatever.

The FTP tourney on the other hand went a lot smoother. After struggling to survive 3/4 of the tourney I got a couple double ups with KK vs 45s and then 55 vs A7 and I was back on track. Made the final table and I think I played pretty well most of the time, made some good re-steals and also picked up some nice hands. It's deffo +ev to run goot at final tables. After about one hour of play, I ended up HU with some guy who I couldn't bluff of trip 6's and that pretty much ended the tournament right there. I guess my timing was a little bit off in this hand:
